Raymond Bernard Gonzales Sr., 95, born on July 21, 1920, in New Orleans, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Our Lady Of The Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.
He retired from Southern Timber. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Ginny Dunaway (Wilton) of Bogalusa; daughter-in-law, Molly Gonzales of Bogalusa; six grandchildren, Elizabeth “Buffy” Walker (Scott), Michael Raymond Gonzales, Wendy Lynn Austin (Shane), Becky Williams, Rebecca Marie Williams (Ryan) and Vicky Nichele Blackwell (Scotty); 10 great-grandchildren, Gabriel Walker, Collins Walker, Brennen Gonzales, Zachary Gonzales, Timothy Gonzales, Caroline Austin, Olivia Blackwell, Skylar Blackwell, Barrett Williams and Bennett Williams.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lena Pepe Gonzales; a son, Raymond Bernard Gonzales Jr.; and his parents, Bernard and Edna Gonzales.
Visitation will be will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, April 11, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Mass will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette officiating.
Entombment will follow at Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery with military graveside services by the Magic City American Legion Post #24.
