Helen L. Magee Knight “Our Matriarch” entered her heavenly home on April 10, 2016, at the age of 94.

Helen was lovingly known as “Granny,” and was born Feb. 1, 1922, to John David and Nancy Jeanette King Magee in Bogalusa. She was the heart and soul of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, great-great grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and extended family that loved her so dearly.

She leaves behind one daughter, Linda Knight (Billy Wayne) Martin of Lumberton, Miss., five sons, Dennis (Sue) Knight of Independence, Willis (Marilyn) Knight and Kenneth (Stephanie) Knight, both of Poplarville, Miss., Jery (Vicky) Knight of Picayune, Miss., and Calvin Knight of Lumberton; two sisters, Vernell Evans of Zachary and Mildred Graves of Otis; 24 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Malcom Knight; two sons, Lavelle M. Knight and Ralph E. Knight; one sister, Jessie Bateman; two brothers, Claude and Albert Magee; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Knight.

Visitation will be held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 12, beginning at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and will resume Wednesday April 13, after 8 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Magee Cemetery, located on Wilson Magee Road in Bogalusa.
