Alex Harrison Jr.

Alex Harrison Jr. was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Tylertown, Miss., to the late Alex Harrison Sr. and Lenora Walker Harrison. He departed this life on April 13, 2016, after 5 p.m. at Canon Healthcare Hospice in Kenner.

Alex was baptized around the age of 12 at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness in Franklinton, with Elder John Sanders as his pastor. He graduated from Washington Parish High School. Following graduation, he attended Sullivan Vo-Tech in Bogalusa for a brief period.

His interests led him to join the Air Force, where he served his country for approximately five years and was honorably discharged in 1968. Following his armed services career, he was hired at the main post office in New Orleans, from which he retired after 25 years of employment.

He loved life and enjoyed attending his class reunion each October, here in Franklinton.

Alex is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Alex Harrison Sr. and mother, Mrs. Lenora Walker Harrison; his stepmother, Mrs. Vanda Watson Harrison; two sisters, Annie Bell Harrison and Normie Lee Harrison; and a very special companion and mother of his stepchildren, Mrs. Alice Thompson.

Alex leaves to cherish his memories: two sisters, Mae H. Barnes (the late Billy Ray) and Ruby H. Ballard (James); one brother, Robert J. Magee (Brunehilde); five daughters, Kim (Jerome), Cindy, Lisa (Eric), Dana (Torian) and Misty; one son, Jerry; several grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Repast will be Saturday, April 23, at One Stop in Franklinton, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
