Walter Ledet

Walter James Ledet, 84, of Kentwood, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday April 30, 2016, at his home.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean War and Vietnam War. Walter was a former member of Acy’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church but had recently been a member of the Pentecostals of Lee Road church. He was a former dairyman that enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He owned several motorcycles and loved riding as much as he possibly could.
He is survived by: his wife, Caryn Jenkins Ledet of Kentwood; son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Dodie Ledet of Pine; daughter-in-law, Donna Penton of Angie; two step-daughters and spouses, Sabrina and Paul Lipscy of Kentwood, and Katrina and Robert Munch of Amite; eight grandchildren and spouses, Nicole Ledet Gaudin and Michael Gaudin, Joshua and Courtney Ledet, Bethanie Ledet, Brittney Lowery, Whittney Munch, Laila Munch, P.J. Lipscy and Briava Lipscy; a great-grandson, Carter Gaudin; two sisters, Cecilia Wilson Ford and Adele Mouton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Jean Mitchell; a special person in his life, Nancy Parks of Newfoundland, Canada; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Helen Mitchell Ledet; his son, Walter Todd Ledet; his parents, Clarence James Ledet and Lizeida Bergeron Ledet; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Danny Jenkins and the Rev. Paul Trentecost officiating. Burial followed with military honors at the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Clemons, Daryl Wilson, B.J. Mizell, Davis Tate, Paul Lipscy and Robert Munch.
