James Paul Peters

James Paul Peters passed away on May 1, 2016, at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond.

He completed Franklinton High School in 1975. He later went to the military and joined the Army. At an early age he joined Magee Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Supt. Monroe Magee.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Hester Loraine Peters of Franklinton; two nephews, Roderick (Laurie) Peters of Houston, Texas, and Desmond (Tonya) Peters of Houston; one brother, Larry O’Neal (Kathy) Cotton of Franklinton; one sister, Ida P. Warren of Bogalusa; an uncle, Jessie Ray (Dedra) Peters of Varnado; and a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, James P. (J.P.) Peters Sr.; two sisters, Catha Peters and Rose Marie Cotton; grandmother, Ida Mae Ford; grandfather, Jessie Peters; and great-grandmother, Edna Govan.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 3 p.m. at Magee’s Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 703 14th Ave. in Franklinton, with Supt. Cecealine Tate, pastor, officiating.
