The Louisiana Knights Travel Ball Team was victorious in the Under Armour Classic that took place this past weekend in Bradenton, Fla., at the IMG Academy.
Franklinton’s Wyatt Verret, who will be a sophomore in the upcoming season, was solid in the tournament, going 3-for-6 with two RBIs, and he was hit by a pitch.
One of the RBIs came in the middle of a comeback win over the GRB Rays out of Wisconsin.
The Knights played three games of pool play before going into bracket play.
They went 2-1 in pool play.
Louisiana won the opener over Elite Squad from Florida, 3-1. The next game was an 8-2 loss to Ohio Elite and they wrapped up pool play with a 6-0 shutout over the Toronto Mets.
In the semifinals, the Knights trailed to the GRB Rays 2-0 before trimming it to 2-1. The Rays added a run to make a 3-1 contest and then Louisiana scored three unanswered runs in the fifth to win. Verret’s RBI in that game came in the fifth.
That put the Knights in the finals, where they were victorious over Bubba Baseball out of Southeast Pennsylvania and Southwest New Jersey, 1-0.
