Preparations are ongoing for the upcoming football season, and today, Bowling Green takes the opportunity to see a few teams, as the Buccaneers are playing in a four-team scrimmage at Silliman Institute.

“We’ll get a variety of teams,” Bowling Green coach David Currier said. “Going against different teams, you have adjust quickly. It’s not like a regular game where you’re focusing on one scheme or one team.

“We’re anxious to go live. With our numbers, you can’t go live during practice (22 on the roster). Friday, that’s what it’s all about. We get to see what we can do offensively and defensively.

“Coaches can still have some hands on since it’s a scrimmage, but after this week, coaches are restricted to the sidelines. We’re all competing for positions, so it’s also chance for the players to prove themselves.”

The other teams competing are Wilkinson County Christian Academy, Trinity and Silliman.

Five games are on tap for today.

Teams will play 20-minute games that have a running clock. The ball begins at the offense’s 35-yard-line and punts are 30 yards.

The action gets underway at 3:35 p.m. Bowling Green will be competing in the last three contests. The Buccaneers’ first game is at 4:35 p.m. against Silliman with the second set for 5:05 p.m. as they face Wilkinson County Christian Academy.

The final game is a junior varsity game against Silliman at 5:35 p.m.

Last season, Bowling Green School went 6-3 during the regular season and reached the playoffs before falling to Cathedral Unit School in the opening round, 35-12.
