On Tuesday, Kasie Fleming went fishing in the Bogue Lusa Creek off Willis Avenue.
Fleming said she goes fishing for bass in the same spot, just off the Richmond Street Bridge every couple of days and Tuesday could have been any other day.
Except the water was a bit lower than usual.
Except that, through the murky brown water, she spied the front bumper and tires of what turned out to be a blue Porsche with Texas license plates.
The car was wholly submerged.
Fleming said she was shocked.
“Yeah, I was more nervous about making sure there was nobody in there,” she said.
By 2:45 p.m., the car was out of the creek and no body was discovered inside the passenger area.
According to Public Works Director James Hall who was at the scene, the car was turned over to the Bogalusa Police Department.
It’ still not clear how the car got in the creek.
There are no tire tracks or any other obvious signs of entry into the water, and it is possible the car was a victim of the March flooding. The car was extracted from the creek courtesy of a crane loaned from the International Paper Mill.
