Bogalusa takes to the field tonight and faces Northlake Christian School in the Covington Jamboree.

“We’ve got Northlake Christian, which is a good test for us,” Bogalusa coach David Roberts said. “They’ve got a good defensive line. They’ve got a big running back. He’ll be hard to tackle. We’ve had a pretty good week of practice, so we’re looking to see how much we’ve improved from last week.”

Bogalusa scrimmaged Chalmette last week on the road.

Thomas Turner gets the start at quarterback. Roberts said Cordell Alexander will also see action at signal caller.

Turner threw two touchdown passes last week. Chas Smith and Sal Pittman caught one each.

Defensively, Roberts said several players that did a really good job in the scrimmage.

“We tried to simplify the scheme because we’ve got some really good athletes on defense and we don’t want them thinking too much. We just want them to react and get to the ball,” Roberts said.

Charles Taylor picked off a pass. Roberts said Monday that he would’ve scored, but turnovers in the scrimmage were blown dead.

Roberts said the defense forced several fumbles and recovered three.

The Lumberjacks also had three sacks. Jamyren Ladner, Tyrese Cotton and De’Salaam Pittman all posted one sack.

The Lumberjacks kick off at 6 p.m. They are playing in the first game of the two-game jamboree.

Bogalusa reached the Class 3A quarterfinals last season. Northlake Christian made it to the opening round of the Division III postseason last year.

The second contest, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., features Covington taking on Lakeshore.
