Tuesday, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office released the name of the victim of an early August murder as Christin M. James.
James, 36, was a resident of 2193 Dupre St. in Mandeville.
Aug. 3, Bogalusa resident Charles Joseph Mixon, 41, was arrested and charged with murder. The murder occurred either late Aug. 2 or early Aug. 3. The murder was first reported to the Bogalusa Police Department at 2 a.m. on Aug. 3.
Shortly after the murder, Chief Deputy Mike Haley reported that Mixon allegedly confessed to killing a woman and burning her body in his backyard off Shorty Bush Road. However, deputies did not immediately know who Mixon had allegedly murdered as the body was too badly burned and the remains had to be identified using forensic science.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mixon is still in parish jail on an $800,000 bond. There have been no other arrests in the case, though Haley said the investigation is ongoing.
So far, investigators are not revealing a motive, an exact time or day of the murder or what connection there may have been between James and Mixon.
