Anderson “Jake Snake” Burris, 74, of Bogalusa, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Renee Daniels Tate of Franklinton and Lorraine (Ronnell) Sartin Jr. of Bogalusa; three brothers, Oneal Burris of Rosedale, Miss., Gentris (Evelyn) Burris of Amite and Larry (Brebda) Burris of Franklinton; sisters-in-law, Elaine Burris of Mt. Hermon, and Patricia Burris of Baton Rouge; brothers-in-law, Oliver White and Judith Littleton of New Orleans; three grandchildren he raised, O’Lando Bell of Baton Rouge, his favorite La’Raybeun “Nu” Bell of Bogalusa and Kelly Tate Jr. of Hammond; one grand-grandchild and other grandchildren; special friends, Melissa “Liz” Curry and Jacqueline Evans of Bogalusa, and Johnnie (Catherine) Weary of Bogalusa; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his father, George Burris; his mother, Margie Mae Long Burris; companion, Mae Hazel Bell; three sisters, Leida Burris White, Bessie Burris Littleton and Renella Burris Henderson; one brother, Tyrone Burris; and ex-wife, Ollie Jean Bickham.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from noon until 2 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Terrance August officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel COCHUSA Cemetery in Franklinton.
