WEST MONROE — Franklinton came up short in some key scoring opportunities, in a 43-6 loss at West Monroe on Friday.

The Rebels (2-1-1) had three different players score touchdowns and the defense forced three turnovers. Returning home for the first time in two weeks, West Monroe made plays in every phase of the game.

West Monroe established control of the game late in the second quarter. The Rebels led 8-0 until wide receiver Taylor Young caught back-to-back 11-yard passes from senior quarterback Robert Scott Foust – the second of which was a touchdown. The Rebels quickly got the ball back after a Franklinton punt and drove 60 yards in less than a minute — capped by a 30-yard touchdown pass from Foust to running back Trey Coleman. Foust was 5-of-5 for 77 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

Franklinton looked poised to tie the game late in the first quarter when quarterback Tahj Magee was intercepted in the endzone by Rebel defensive back Tre’bion Terry. It was the first of three interceptions by the Rebels.

“We are young and we missed opportunities,” Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said. “We didn’t put the ball in the endzone. It becomes a snowball effect. We just struggled like we have all year.”

Magee passed for 186 yards and one score on 13-of-24 passing and two interceptions. Jamarian Crain caught the 30-yard touchdown pass.

Slade Bolden got the start at quarterback for West Monroe for the second straight week. Bolden ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

“We are getting better,” West Monroe coach Jerry Arledge said. “(Running back) Trey Coleman ran well and offensive line play was better. We need to get better at that position.”

Franklinton (1-3) hosts Church Point next Friday.
