Mrs. Mattie Lou Carter Burton, born Aug. 5, 1929, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, at the age of 87.
She is survived by her children, Ken Burton, Sandra Allemand and her deceased husband (Whitney) and Renee Miller (Bruce), all of Bogalusa; her grandchildren, Michelle Burton, Shahin Burton, Shidon Aflatooni, Stacey Culpepper, Charmaine Reeves, Timmy Dykes (Rose), Samantha Crain (Brian); great-grandchildren, Austin Woods, Riley Burton, Brandon Freeman, Shelby Culpepper, Dillon Reeves, Amber Keating (Kindall), Heather Tate (Greg), Summer Dykes, Jonathan Crain, Josh Crain and Madison Crain; great-great-grandchildren, Kaiden Keating, Brantley Keating and Shane Tate; numerous nieces and nephews; and three special friends, Pat Watkins, M.L. and Linda McDaniels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Burton; her parents, Jeppy Carter Sr. and Ola Mae Stevenson Carter; a great-grandchild, Evan Reeves; and her siblings, Jeppy Carter Jr., Donald Carter and Judy Gates Carter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the service time of 2 p.m. The Rev. Chad Jenkins will officiate with interment at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monroe Street Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Mattie Burton.
