Ben’s Ford Christian School suffered a 40-6 loss to Oak Forest Academy in Friday’s road game.

“As usual for the past and probably the next few years, they’re going to make a push for the Class 4A title,” Ben’s Ford assistant coach Chuck Williams said. “We went in, knowing we were out four starters, and found out we would be out a fifth starter, but the kids we had played hard and fought. The kids didn’t quit. We kept battling.”

The Eagles trailed 21-0 after the first quarter and 34-0 at halftime.

Ben’s Ford score came when Cameron Byrd took a handoff and went 8 yards to the end zone with about 3:30 left in the fourth quarter.

“He went up and caught passes that most kids wouldn’t catch. He was our top receiver,” Williams said.

Also catching passes were Cameron Miller and Jarrett Williams.

Defensively, coach Williams said outside linebacker Jacob Seal and safety Byrd both flew to the ball well.

He also said that defensive end C.J. McClelland did a good job of fighting through double teams and played a good game.

“He played really solid at his position and held his ground,” Williams said.

Ben’s Ford (1-7) has two regular season games left.

Both are at home and both are District 5AAA contests. They play Friday against Silliman Institute before capping off the regular season next Thursday against Central Private School.
