Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Lady Eagles struggled against Lamar Christian School in a 65-11 loss at home Tuesday night.

Missed shots and turnovers were two of the key factors that hurt Ben’s Ford. The turnovers led to easy shot attempts on the offensive end for Lamar.

“(We had) tons of turnovers, tons of missed shots and lack of effort on defense. We’ve just got to work to get better,” Ben’s Ford coach Mark McGehee said.

The game got off to a rough start for the Lady Eagles, as Lamar scored the game’s first 14 points.

Lamar Christian won the tip and tallied the game’s first basket almost immediately to make it 2-0. Rebekah Engle, who had a game-high 25 points, posted the game’s next six points on layups for an 8-0 lead.

Rachel Engle, who finished with seven points, hit from the baseline with 5:18 left and it was 10-0.

Lamar Christian got a steal that led to Catherine Hannabass hitting for two. Hannabass, who had 15 points, capped the run by making a steal and a layup. It was 14-0 with 4:31 left in the first quarter.

Ben’s Ford got on the board when Allison Forbes went 1-for-2 from the free-throw line with 3:36 left.

It was 24-2 after the first quarter.

The Lady Eagles’ struggles continued in the second period, as Lamar Christian put up the first 18 points to lead 44-2 after Rebekah Engle’s bucket with 57 seconds remaining in the first half. But the Lady Eagles responded when Alaina McClelland knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key to make it 44-5.

It was 46-5 at halftime.

Lamar Christian outscored Ben’s Ford 7-3 in the third quarter and 12-0 in the fourth to reflect the final score.

Ayriana Culpepper finished with four points and five rebounds for Ben’s Ford.

McClelland had three points and a rebound while Forbes tallied two points and two steals. Kayleigh Wheat scored two points and grabbed two boards, Celeste Crowe finished with two rebounds and a steal, and Addison Seal and Abbie Atkins pulled down two rebounds each. Kristen Keaton, Valerie Page and Katelyn McCain all had one rebound and Kelci Freeman made a steal.

Lamar’s Becca Chatman and Laura Chatham scored eight points each while Gracie Raby added two.
