Madeline Freeman

Madeline Smith Freeman, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at her home in Bogalusa.

Madeline was a very active member of Ben’s Ford Baptist Church. She was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. Her singing was a ministry for God. She sang in the Messanger’s Group, and Mile Branch Settlement, as well as many revivals and camp meetings across the United States, and wrote several gospel songs.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Kenneth “Randy“ Freeman of Bogalusa; her children, Clyde (Shawn) Smith of Franklinton, Adam Smith of Bogalusa, Kim (Scott) Turnage of Thomas, and George (Courtney) Freeman of Franklinton; one sister, Bernell Seals of Walker; her grandchildren, Colton Smith, Andrew Turnage, Karlissa Turnage, Grayden DeQueant, Patrick Richardson and Sidney Richardson; her aunt, Betty Lou Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lott and Bessie Lewis Lott; her sisters, Margie Beeson and Mary Lou Carter; and her brother, Jimmy Lott.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church, located at 58521 Highway 439 in Bogalusa, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a service at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with Bro. Lynn Martin, Bro. Jimmy Byrd and Bro. Caleb Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.
