It’s a great time of year for high school basketball, as postseason has begun for some and is coming up for others.

In LHSAA action, Franklinton’s boys defeated Salmen, 64-50, to tie the Spartans for first-place in District 8-4A on Tuesday.

Both teams still have some games left.

Bogalusa and Amite boys played for the District 7-3A championship last night after press time, as both entered the final league contest with 6-1 district records.

On the girls side, Pine is playing for the District 10-2A title this evening at Northlake Christian School. Three tournament games, two consolation contests and the boys championship game are being played before that contest and the tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

In local MAIS action, Bowling Green’s boys and girls, along with Ben’s Ford Christian School boys, are in action today in the District 5AAA Tournament, which takes place at Bowling Green School.

The top four teams advance to South State Tournament that is being played Feb. 14, 15, 17 and 18, but the three teams are vying for an opportunity to play in the league championship games tomorrow.

Both of Bowling Green’s teams are the top seeds. Both play Central Private School. Central Private’s girls are the fourth-seeded team while the boys are fifth-seeded.

Bowling Green’s girls are playing tonight at 6:30 p.m. while the boys are tipping off at 7:45 p.m.
Second-seeded Ben’s Ford Christian School’s boys are going against third-seeded Silliman Institute at 5:15 p.m.

Ben’s Ford’s girls team, the fifth seed, competed in the tournament, but lost to Central Private School, 41-30, on Tuesday. That game concluded the Lady Eagles’ season.

Other schools will also soon have a chance to reach the top spot in their league or reach the playoffs.
