Franklinton hangs on to defeat Pine

Franklinton hung on to defeat Pine, 6-4, in Tuesday’s game that took place at Franklinton.
The Demons led 6-1 after six innings, but Pine scored three runs in the seventh and left the potential tying run on first base as Franklinton went on to the victory.
Franklinton coach Jeff Tageant praised the job that Pine coach Blake Dillon is doing. Dillon played for Tageant at Franklinton from 2000-03. Also, Trey Jenkins, one of Pine’s assistant coaches, played for Tageant from 2002-05.
“I am so proud of the job Blake is doing at Pine,” Tageant said. “It’s not always easy to coach against a former player, but to see the way his guys play the game
makes me proud.”
The game was scoreless through two innings, but Franklinton put up two runs in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth. Pine made it 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning and Franklinton responded with two more. The Raiders scored three in the seventh.
Winning pitcher Collin Dominguez threw 6-2/3 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Hunter Maxwell came in and got a pop up to end the game and record the save.
Wyatt Verret led the hitters, going 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.
Mike Martin posted two hits in three at-bats with an RBI.
Jamarian Crain, Trent Varnado, Ty McGhee and Hunter Maxwell all posted one hit.
Crain scored two runs, McGhee and Maxwell scored a run each.
Pine had three hits. Tate Roach had two hits, including a double.
Harrison Jones singled and scored a run.
Dillon Morris drove in two runs and scored once while Kaden Fersch and Luke Fonda tallied once each.
