Bogalusa competes in meet at SLU

Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks competed in the 2017 Strawberry Relays that took place Thursday at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
The 4×400 relay team ran the race in 5 minutes, 10 seconds to finish eighth. The team included Jameka Lucas, Mary Ladner, Samia White and Prayja Bickham. Ursuline Academy won the event in 4:12.
The 4×200 team was 11th in 2:03. The team featured Javonnie Bickham, Khrystian Scott, Ladner and White. Lafayette was the winner in 1:44.
Lula Ball was 13th in the javelin with a throw of 77 feet, 7 inches. Metairie Park Country Day’s Leigh Maher won at 130-7.
Lucas and Bickham ran 13th and 22nd in the 100 with times of 13.58 and 14.18, respectively. Archbishop Chapelle’s Destines Jean Pierre was the winner with a time of 12.23.
Lucas ran 14th in the 400 at 1:09. Lafayette’s Gentry Jacquet was the winner in 58.88.
Ball threw the discus 68-3 for 16th, as Covington’s Charity Conlin was victorious at 106-7.
Bickham and Lucas ran 18th and 28th in the 200 with times of 29.81 and 31.44. Jean Pierre was the winner in 24.89.
White was 21st in the 800 after she ran it in 3:21. Lafayette’s Sydney Minor won in 2:17.
Lafayette won the team competition with 144 points, as 20 teams scored at least one point.
Ursuline Academy was second with 81, followed by Walker’s 50.5, John Curtis’ 39 and St. Thomas Aquinas’ 36.5.
Bogalusa was 20th, with one point.
