Several Bowling Green athletes going to overall meet

Three Bowling Green athletes are headed to the overall meet across five events, after finishing in the top four at the South State Meet that took place at Silliman last week. The South State field events were Wednesday and the track events were Saturday.
Cameron Cowart and Daniel Bischoff are going to state in two events each, while Kenny Robertson qualified in one.
Cowart and Robertson won an event each.
Cowart made it in the long jump and 100 meters. Cowart captured the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 6 inches. Central Private School’s Austin Weber was second at 21-11.75.
Cowart took second in the 100 after completing the race in 11.46 seconds in a close finish. Adams County Christian School’s Cade Wells won in 11.42. Just 0.08 seconds separated first place from fifth.
Robertson was victorious in the triple jump with a distance of 41-0.75. Silliman Institute’s Austin Bizette was second at 40-9.5.
Bischoff made the overall meet in the long-distance races, the 1,600 and 3,200.
Bischoff finished third in the 3,200 in 11 minutes, 32 seconds. Columbia Academy’s Kenny Price won in 11:03. Bischoff finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:57. Cathedral Unit School’s Jalen McCoy won in 4:52.
The meet was a qualifier to reach the overall meet. The top four from each event reached the overall meet, which takes place Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep. The field events are Friday and the track events are Saturday.
Jonathan Smith was fifth in the 400 at 57.40. Centreville Academy’s Austin Addington won in 51.91.
Centreville won the team competition with 74.5 points, as nine teams posted at least one point.
Silliman was a close second, finishing just five points behind Centreville.
Cathedral was third with 3, followed by Adams’ 28 and Columbia’s 27.
Bowling Green finished sixth with 22 points.
