Evelyn Evon Miller Rose, 65, and resident of Franklinton died Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017 at St Tammany Hospital.
She was the retail manager at Sears in Bogalusa for over 20 years. She had a wonderful singing voice and performed country and gospel songs alongside her father for many years, including at Mile Branch Settlement during the Washington Parish Free Fair. Evon enjoyed making crafts, completing word search games and cross-stitch. She loved to sit on her porch drinking coffee while feeding and watching her birds. She also loved butterflies.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Rose of Franklinton; two daughters Candi Gonzales, Courtney Smith and David Perry, all of Franklinton; two granddaughters: Caitlyn Gonzales and Grace Gonzales; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Fran and Steve Gaines of Tennessee and Elaine Jones of Franklinton; mother-in-law: Anna D. Rose of Hattiesburg, Miss; two sisters-in-law: Angela and Mike Filligane of Sumrall, Miss., Joann and James Ware of Biloxi, Miss.; also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frankie Leonard Miller and Ora Miller, brothers Wilbur Miller and David Earl Miller, father in law Bobby J. Rose and former husband and father to her children Samuel J. Smith.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday June 2 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Hickman, Rev. Bryan Bates and Rev. Charles Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
