Pine’s Knight, Roach make 1st-team all-district

Two Pine Raiders baseball players were selected to the top team in the all-district selections for District 10-2A.
First baseman Ethan Knight and outfielder Tate Roach were selected to the top team for the Raiders.
This season, Knight hit .315 and reached base at a .466 clip while slugging .506. Knight hit two home runs, drove in 34 runs and scored 19 runs. He had nine doubles and a triple.
Roach finished the year with a .354 batting average. He posted a .575 on-base percentage and .519 slugging percentage. Roach hit a homer, drove in 17 runs and scored 36 runs. Roach had eight doubles and a triple. He was hit by a pitch 15 times.
Two Raiders are second-team players this year — catcher Trey Cooper and pitcher Rion Terrell.
Cooper hit .237 with a .365 on-base percentage and .441 slugging. Cooper hit two home runs to go with 22 RBIs and five runs scored. He posted seven doubles and three triples. Cooper was hit by a pitch eight times.
Terrell went 3-3 this season with a 1.96 ERA in 10 games and eight starts that covered 42-2/3 innings of work.
Pine reached the postseason this year as the No. 18 team, but lost to 15th-seeded Bunkie, 3-1, in the opening round. Bunkie lost the first two games in the best-of-three to quarterfinalist and second-seeded DeQuincy.
Archbishop Hannan second baseman Nick Lucido is the District 10-2A Most Valuable Player. Northlake Christian School’s Justin Ethridge is the Pitcher of the Year. Archbishop Hannan’s Chris Yeager is the Coach of the Year.
Archbishop Hannan made the Division III postseason as the 13th-seeded team, but lost to eventual state champion and fourth-seeded Riverside Academy in the first two games of a best-of-three.
Northlake Christian School reached the Division III postseason as the 15th-seeded team, but lost the first two games of a best-of-three to second-seeded and state semifinalist Ouachita Christian.
The top team’s catchers are Northlake Christian School’s Buddy Kyle and Archbishop Hannan’s Austin Fontenot.
Lucido is the second baseman, Pope John Paul II’s Travis Hoff is at third and Archbishop Hannan’s Austin Knower is at shortstop.
The rest of the outfield includes Northlake Christian School’s Jake Nunmaker and Pope John Paul II’s Anthony Chapetta.
Archbishop Hannan’s Tim Riffino and Northlake Christian School’s Diego Sanchez are pitchers/infielders and Pope John Paul II’s Sean Price is at utility.
The pitchers are Northlake Christian’s Justin Ethridge and Archbishop Hannan teammates Jordan Gonzales and Jordan Holcombe.
Moving to second team, the infield features Northlake Christian School’s Cooper Moore and Archbishop Hannan’s Kaine Newman.
The outfielders re Northlake Christian School’s Cole Bilbo, Archbishop Hannan’s Jacob Gaude and Pope John Paul II’s Tyler Blakeman.
Archbishop Hannan’s Izzy Carerra is the designated hitter.
Pope John Paul II’s Reese Satterlee and Archbishop Hannan’s Tim McDonald round out the pitchers.
