David Marcus, an employee with Northshore EMS of Bogalusa, was one of five representatives named to the Ambulance Service District Commission by Gov. John Bel Edwards last week.

“It is a great honor to be appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards to serve on the Ambulance Service District Commission,” Marcus said. “I look forward to representing and being a voice for Northshore EMS and the many other ambulance services across the state of Louisiana.

“My appointment shall be to represent the public’s interest in facilitating, quick, efficient and properly trained basic and advanced life support ambulance care in the state. It also includes pursuing grant funds to advance first responder services and also to enter into cooperative agreements with other public and private entities to better serve the parish and state.”

Marcus, of Kentwood, is a paramedic, education program manager, disaster preparedness coordinator and company representative for Northshore EMS. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Ambulance Alliance and will serve as an at-large representative.

Marcus is also involved in many other state boards and activities, which serve to advance the life-saving care within our community and state. He is on the Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board for Region 9, a board member of the Louisiana Association of National Registered EMT, and was recognized by the National Association of Registered EMTs for his 20 years of service as a registered paramedic.

In addition, Marcus is a voting member for Northshore EMS with the Louisiana Ambulance Alliance, the Instructor Coordinator of the Year for Louisiana and is heavily involved with emergency response and disaster preparedness as a strike team leader and responder.

He is also a Certified State EMS Instructor through the Bureau of EMS for the state of Louisiana and volunteers his spare time as a firefighter/medic with the Kentwood Volunteer Fire Department.

The other representatives named to the commission were Jeffrey Watson of Bossier City, Asbel Montes of Carencro, Dennis Seamans of Oak Grove, and Robert Lowrie of Zachary.
