A Bogalusa man who was found asleep in his car Tuesday is now facing multiple drug charges, according to Maj. Percy Knight of the Bogalusa Police Department.

Knight said that on Tuesday, at approximately 5:23 a.m., the BPD received a call in reference to an unresponsive person asleep in his vehicle while parked in a parking lot on Superior Avenue. EMS was called to administer aid to the man, who was later identified as Steven L. Crenshaw, 44, of Bogalusa.

Knight said that Crenshaw slowly became responsive and reportedly seemed intoxicated, but officers could not detect any odor of alcohol. Crenshaw then exited his vehicle and voluntarily started emptying his pockets, reportedly taking out three 660-mg pills identified as Gabapentin, Knight said.

Several more pills of Gabapentin were reportedly located in a pill bottle inside the driver’s door pocket.
Knight said that suspected crystal methamphetamine was also located in Crenshaw’s pants pocket.
EMS personnel treated Crenshaw on the scene. After it was determined that he didn’t need any further medical assistance, he was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of legend drug (Gabapentin), and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
