Maudessie Brumfield

Maudessie M. Brumfield was born Oct. 4, 1923, to Victor and Mary Jane Mathews of Varnado. She departed this life on Friday, July 14, 2017, at her residence.
Maudessie was the last of 12 siblings. She graduated from Wesley Ray High School and New Orleans Business School.
In departing she leaves wonderful memories to be cherished by five children, John Wesley (Geraldine) Brumfield Jr. of Shreveport, Victor (Betty) Brumfield, Don (Erica) Brumfield, Greg (Eloise) Brumfield and Ella Rose (Ezekil) Dupart, all of Bogalusa; 10 grandchildren, Tonya Ratliff, Evette Mayham, John W. Brumfield III, Shadrick Brumfield, Brian Parker, Brandy Brumfield, Brittney Brumfield, Patrice Brumfield, Rashard Dupard and Trenton Dupard; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Doris Brown and Jimmy Mondy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mary Jane Mathews; her husband, John Wesley Brumfield Sr.; son, Leon M. Brumfield; a special daughter-in-law, Dianne Brumfield; and her sisters and brothers, Ella Rose Walker, Melissa Moses, Caroline Mondy, Ruth Mathews, William Oliver Mathews, Arthur Mathews, Norman Dewitt Mathews, Marvin Mathews, Delos Mathews, Solomon Mathews and James Earl Mathews.
Sis. Maudessie Brumfield’s viewing will be at Crain and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Wake services will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral services will be Saturday, July 22, at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
