Bucs playing in scrimmage against Silliman

Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers are scheduled to scrimmage on the road against Silliman Institute this afternoon.
The event is scheduled to get under way at 3:45 p.m.
The scrimmage is a way for coaches to continue evaluation of their players and a chance for fans to get a preview of their team as the regular season approaches.
“We’ve lost two of our experienced skill guys (to transfers). We’ve some new guys stepping in,” Bowling Green coach David Currier said. “That takes a little bit of our explosiveness from us on offense and defense. We’ve still got Cam Bell at quarterback and whenever you’ve got an experienced quarterback, that’s a big key. We also need Cam Brock to step up. We’ve also got Harrison Jones that has come over. He’s a big receiver and can play defensive end.”
The competition will be a controlled scrimmage, as teams will run sets of plays before switching from offense to defense, and vice versa.
There will be no kicking.
Ben’s Ford Christian School is not competing in a scrimmage.
Both teams are playing in jamborees next week. Ben’s Ford is hosting a jamboree and Bowling Green is traveling to Silliman Institute. The jamborees are taking place next Friday, Aug. 11.
In the Ben’s Ford jamboree, three games will take place beginning at 7 p.m. CHEF will play New Orleans Homeschool before Ben’s Ford faces CHEF and New Orleans Homeschool, respectively, in the final two contests. Each game will consist of one 12-minute quarter, with a running clock until the 2-minute mark. Once there is two minutes left, standard clock operation rules will go into effect.
The regular season opener is Friday, Aug. 18.
