Josie Hartzog

Josie Cecile Leslie Hartzog passed away at age 66 on Aug. 20, 2017, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was born on Feb. 14, 1951.

She is survived by her daughters, Sasha Hartzog Pike (James) of Varnado, and Gina Sances (Richard) of Abita Springs; her son, Fields Hartzog of Varnado; sister, Sarah Margaret Galloway of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Haley Hartzog, Austin Hartzog, Dalton Sances, James Alan Pike III “L.J.,” and her beloved Willow. She was loved and survived by many friends and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Hartzog; father, Cecil Floyd Leslie; mother, Mildred Lavana Doan Leslie; sisters, Fredda Miller and Laura Lee Cobb; and brothers, Charles Leslie, Richard Leslie, William Leslie, Gary Leslie and Timothy Leslie.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 21, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation continued at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. until noon. Funeral services began at noon with Reverend Kelly Penton officiating. Interment followed at Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Following interment, a reception and fellowship was held at First Missionary Baptist Church and the family home.
