Pine coach Bradley Seal seemed pleased with the Raiders’ performance in the team’s scrimmage against Jewel Sumner at home Friday.
“I was very happy offensively,” Seal said. “I thought (quarterback) Joey (Seal) had one of his better outings since I’ve he’s been here. I thought he was in control of our offense. The offensive line I think is further ahead than what it was at this point last year. Jordan (Anderson) had like four catches for 60 yards, so I was happy with him too.”
Coach Seal also talked about the defense.
“Our defensive line played really well,” he said. “There was a busted coverage that happens early in the year that has to get fixed, but overall, we played well.”
The scrimmage began with goal line work, before the teams went into series of plays and capped the contest off with a 12-minute quarter.
In the goal line work, Jakyran Handy, Donavon Kreyssig and Drake Westmoreland posted rushing touchdowns and Anderson caught a scoring pass from Joey Seal.
In the series of regular offensive plays, Handy scored on a 10-yard run.
Defensively, Larry Williams, Kreyssig and Westmoreland each recorded a sack.
Pine won the quarter, 7-0. Handy scored on a 9-yard run and Dakota Brooks added the extra point.
Pine will be playing in the Our Lady of the Angels Washington Parish Jamboree on Friday at Franklinton High School. The Raiders will face Franklinton in the second game.
