Ben’s Ford Christian School hosts Bowling Green School tonight in week two of the MAIS regular season, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
“It’s a big week for us,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Dean King said. “It’s a game that I think will bring a lot of people. For us, our goal is to be 2-0. It’s a rival game that everybody knows about. We’re just hoping to avoid the turnovers. We can’t have the turnovers we had last week and expect to beat Bowling Green.”
The Eagles are coming off a 35-6 victory over New Orleans Home School.
Jacob Seal had a big game for Ben’s Ford. He ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns. King said he was probably close to 300 yards with kickoff and punt returns. Seal also made six tackles on defense.
“(Seal) played very well. He was by far probably the No. 1 guy,” King said. “Tyler Winstead had a pretty solid game. He threw the ball well and had some good runs. Defensively, our defensive ends Kameron Underwood and Peyton Miller played very well at containing the quarterback and had some big plays off the edge.”
Winstead had 47 yards on five carries with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
Underwood made seven tackles and Miller posted six.
Gage Tervalon rushed for 104 yards on eight carries (13 yards per attempt) with a touchdown. Defensively, he made five tackles and intercepted a pass.
Ernesto Woods made a reception for 47 yards.
Austin Stogner posted four tackles.
Bowling Green has won three of the four meetings against Ben’s Ford, including a 31-0 victory last season. Ben’s Ford’s series win was in 2014, by a score of 25-20.
The Buccaneers begin this week with an 0-1 record after a 27-14 loss to Park Place Christian Academy last week.
“We go to Ben’s Ford. We dropped the first game at home, but we learned a lot,” Bowling Green School coach David Currier said. “We played good enough to win in spots. We had more yards than Park Place, but we have five turnovers and gave up some big plays. Our conditioning with our depth hurt us, but I see a lot of positives. I see players that can play. We’re going to Ben’s Ford and hopefully we get a win this week.”
Cameron Brock made 14 tackles last week and Currier said he has a chance to make big plays. He also ran for 18 yards.
Cameron Bell ran for 93 yards and threw for 74. He rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown and an interception.”
Grady Ball posted 57 yards on the ground. He also caught a 23-yard touchdown pass.
Jake Schexnider ran for 57 yards.
Charles Panksley had four receptions for 33 yards in last week’s contest.
