A Bogalusa man and a woman from Monroe were arrested on drug and other charges by the Bogalusa Police Department early Wednesday, after an officer observed a vehicle make a turn onto Claiborne Street without using a turn signal, according to Maj. Percy Knight, public information officer for the BPD.
“The officer got behind the vehicle and observed the vehicle swaying from one side of the road to the other, so the officer activated his blue emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop,” Knight said. “The vehicle would not stop for the officer so a road block was set up by other BPD officers from the shift. The vehicle was finally stopped by the roadblock at the intersection of Sabine Street and Lucerne Street.”
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Anthony J. Mitchell, 37, and the passenger was identified as Ashley M. Bordelon, 28.
“When the officers ordered Mitchell and Bordelon to exit the vehicle, the officers observed, in plain view, a tin container on the seat,” Knight said. “Mitchell and Bordelon gave officers verbal consent to search the vehicle.
“The tin container contained a small bag of crystal methamphetamine, one piece of crack cocaine, a crack pipe and two tablets that were later identified as Xanax and Alprazolam.”
Mitchell was arrested and booked on the charges of turn signal required, improper lane usage, careless operation, suspended drivers license, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
Bordelon was arrested and booked on the charges of possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
