Franklinton Police Department officers arrested a Franklinton man Sunday for carrying a weapon as a convicted felon, according to information from FPD officials.
Officials said that on Sunday at approximately 9 p.m., FPD officers were dispatched to a complaint of illegal discharge of firearms in the 1000 block of T.W. Barker Drive.
Witnesses told FPD dispatchers a black man was seen running down Mason Street, following the shots. As officers arrived in the area they observed a black man standing in the area. Officers spoke with the man, who was identified as Lamarius Lowe of Franklinton.
During the course of the investigation and for officer safety, a pat-down was conducted of Lowe where officers discovered a firearm concealed on his person. Officers arrested Lowe for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
The initial complaint of illegal discharge of a firearm is still under investigation and may produce additional charges at a later date for Lowe, officials said.
