A Mt. Hermon man was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 17, in connection with a recent string of residential burglaries, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Haley said that Brady Lee Caughlin, 25, a resident of Jim Edwards Road in Mt. Hermon, earned his fourth stay in the Washington Parish Jail.
An ongoing investigation by the detective division of the WPSO revealed that Caughlin was involved in two residential burglaries, one on Tob Wilson Road and the other on Lee Road, Haley said. Believing that Caughlin was hiding stolen property at his residence on Jim Edwards Road, detectives obtained a search warrant for the house.
Haley said that when the detectives executed the search warrant, they discovered several items that had been stolen from the two residences. Those items included firearms, a four-wheeler, dirt bikes, a generator, cameras, a large amount of ammunition and other property belonging to the victims. Other stolen firearms were not in Caughlin’s residence and it was learned he had sold them to unknown individuals in the parish, Haley said.
Detectives ask anyone who might have purchased a firearm or any other items from Brady Lee Caughlin to contact Detective Corbet Hunt at 985-661-2021 or 985-839-3434. It is believed that Caughlin may have been involved in other thefts and the investigation continues, Haley said.
Caughlin was booked into the Washington Parish Jail and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, burglary, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of heroin. His bond has been set at $25,000.
Haley said that Caughlin’s three previous stays in the Washington Parish Jail were in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was charged with various offenses, including possession with intent to distribute illegal narcotics, battery and disturbing the peace. On each occasion, he was released after posting bond.
“Our detective division did their usual good job in solving these burglaries and putting Caughlin behind bars,” Sheriff Randy Seal said. “If anyone has any information about his criminal activities, please call Detective Hunt at the number listed. We are anxious to solve any and all thefts committed by Caughlin.”
