Chancellor Jefferson

On Oct. 20, 2017, at the age of 46, Chancellor Paul Jefferson was called to his home of eternal rest.

He was born March 24, 1971, to the late Oscar Jefferson and Linda Jefferson. He joined Wesley Ray United Methodist Church at an early age and was active in the male chorus. He graduated from Varnado High School in 1989. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served two years. When he returned home, he started working offshore as a cook with Delta Catering, where he worked until his health began to fail. On Nov. 16, 2002, he married his high school sweetheart, Tonyah Burris.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Tonyah Jefferson; one son, Scipio Burton; his mother, Linda Jefferson; four brothers, Oscar (Shauntel) Jefferson Jr., Marcus Jefferson I, Melvin (Thomasina) Nichols, and Terry K. Jefferson; one sister, Ursula (Ken) Bullock; two sisters-in-law, Lyttron Burris and Marie Jefferson; two brothers-in-law, Royan L. Burris, Erskin (Rena) Burris; grandfather, Marshall Jefferson; step-grandfather, Vernon Travis Sr.; two godchildren, Marcus Jefferson II and LaKendra Bullock; his father-in-law, Royan (Brenda) Burris; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Jefferson Sr.; mother-in-law, Eva S. Burris; brother, Christopher Jefferson; grandparents, Joseph Henry Sr., Charlene Travis, Chiresa Jefferson; and step-grandmother, Ernestine Henry.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., followed by a family hour from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Bogalusa.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m., at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church with Rev. Terrance August, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Cemetery.
