Two teenagers from Angie were recently arrested in connection with burglary and other crimes, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Haley said that the teenage suspects were arrested by the WPSO on Monday, Nov. 6. Justin Gunnell, 17, a resident of Fornea Road in Angie, was placed in the Washington Parish Jail and charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, criminal damage to property and five counts of theft of firearms. Gunnell’s bond was set at $10,500. He met the conditions of his bond and was released from jail Tuesday, Haley said.

Gary Crumedy, 17, a resident of William Lewis Road in Angie, was placed in the Washington Parish Jail and charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling and criminal damage to property. Crumedy’s bond was set at $5,500 and as of Tuesday morning, he remained in jail.

The arrests resulted from an investigation of a residential burglary on Fornea Road and a theft of firearms that occurred at another residence, Haley said, noting that evidence and testimony pointed to Gunnell and Crumedy as prime suspects. Haley said that when the young men were confronted by detectives, both of the suspects confessed to the crimes.

“It concerns me to see young men like these two involved in criminal activity,” Washington Parish Randy Seal said. “It is not a good start for them, but the arrests give each young man an opportunity to assess his direction in life and to set positive goals for the future. It is my sincere hope that the stark reality of this arrest signals the beginning of a new course for each of them.”
