Finals set for Mt. Hermon Tournament

The championship games of the Mt. Hermon Basketball Tournament are taking place Nov. 18.
The girls championship tips off at 6 p.m. and the boys finals will follow.
In the girls bracket, Jewel Sumner and Holden will play in the title game. Sumner won its game over Kentwood, 45-24, on Wednesday to advance.
Pine’s girls’ team was a 32-23 winner over Mt. Hermon to begin the event Wednesday.
Savannah Kennedy led the Lady Raiders with eight points.
Trayana Williams posted seven while Jasmine Crosby, Raina Crosby, McKayla Jordan and Elizabeth Barber all posted three. Kelsey Jenkins and Kaylyn Ginn tallied two each and Kiyasha Clark added one.
Macey Applegate and Destiny Lewis were Mt. Hermon’s points leaders with seven each.
Sikoya Jackson recorded five points while Patera Williams posted three and Ashiriah Williams added one.
Pine’s girls advanced to Thursday’s play and lost 48-17 against Holden.
The win for Holden put them in the finals against Jewel Sumner.
In the boys bracket, Mt. Hermon will play against Holden for the tournament’s title, with tip off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
On Wednesday, Mt. Hermon defeated Kentwood, 45-40.
Device Taylor led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and he dished out four assists.
Ike Tate posted nine points with Tevin Williams at eight. George Smith recorded five points and six assists while Za’Byeaus Holmes and Jordan Smith added four each.
The Yellow Jackets followed up the win by defeating Pine, 65-21, the following day.
Taylor and Jordan Smith scored tied for the Yellow Jackets’ team lead with 14 points each.
Tevin Williams was also in double figures and posted 12 points.
Tate had four while Daniel Watson and George Smith had three each, and Tristen Brumfield added two.
Chance Woodward tallied eight points to lead the Raiders.
Triston Jones recorded five points while Christian Bravo and Syheim Bell posted three each and Karson Voth added two for the Raiders.
