The Washington Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced Thursday morning that there is a winter weather advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday evening until noon Friday.
A mix of rain and sleet could begin late this evening before becoming snow Friday morning. This could impact some areas during the morning commute Friday. Most areas will only see flurries with little if any accumulation. However, a few spots, especially on the northern boundary between Louisiana and
Mississippi, could see less than an inch accumulation on grassy surfaces, rooftops, and elevated surfaces including roadways.
This advisory is for Washington Parish and portions of southeast Louisiana, southeast Mississippi and southern Mississippi.
Visibility will be reduced Friday morning in areas where snow falls.
A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow with accumulations less than 2 inches within 12 hours will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.
