Mr. Walter James, 75, of Bogalusa, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at his residence.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 22, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Freddie Deer officiating.

On Saturday, Dec. 23, there will be a military service at 9 a.m. at Bogalusa Cemetery for his honorable services in the U.S. Army.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories: his loving, faithful and devoted wife, Yvonne R. James; one step-daughter, Lakendra G. (Scottland) Lewis of Bogalusa; four step-sons, Darcy N. Garrett Jr., also of Bogalusa, Calvin (Donna) Rayford of Graham, Wash., Raymond and Roman Rayford of New Orleans; two sisters, Alice James Kelly of Pfugherville, Texas, and Listria James Lewis of New Orleans; three brothers, Bobbie James, Horace (Patricia) James of Franklinton, and Forace (Kathleen) James of Mt. Hermon; 13 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends; a special niece, Virginia N. Isaac of New Orleans; and a special friend, Rosalin Weary of Angie.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel James and Nertice Estella Magee James; one daughter, Darlene James; five sisters, Alicia Magee, DoLay James, Lattie Mae James, Audrey Weary and Madeline James; three brothers, Slade, Thomas and Madeline James; a father-in-law, the Rev. Clarence Robinson Sr.; a mother-in-law, Vergie Lee May Robinson; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Robinson Jr.
