J.S. Thomas

J.S. Thomas, 89, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Riverside Medical Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Kristie Thomas of Mandeville, and Dennis Thomas of Franklinton; four grandchildren and spouses, Alicia and Eric Irmscher of Slidell, Meaghan and Todd Wallace, Derrick and Whitney Thomas, and Jessica and Matt Jester, all of Shreveport; six great-grandchildren, Campbell Irmscher, Christianna Irmscher, Charleigh Irmscher, Kyler Wallace, Luke Thomas and Lily Hardy; an expected grandson in February, Thomas Logan Jester; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Knight Thomas; his parents, Jess and Ettie Mae Sumrall Thomas; three brothers, Herman Thomas, Ogden Thomas and Curtis Thomas; and three sisters, Elsie Burguieres, Lonie Payne and Ludie Ferchaud.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home after noon Wednesday, Jan. 3, with a funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
