Andrew Sharp

On Jan. 18, 2018, the Lord took Andrew Sharp to be with him in Heaven. He was born Dec. 4, 1941, and was a native of the Blond Community but had been a resident of Washington Parish for nearly 40 years.

Andrew was a former longtime crane operator for Avondale Shipyards. He was also a beef cattleman that really cared for his animals, often going to the barn several times in a day to check on them. Andrew enjoyed traveling to the area cattle auctions and even liked to watch auctions on TV. He was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church near his home.

He is survived by: his wife of seven years, Alice B. Sarver-Sharp of Franklinton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Michelle Sharp of Loranger, Jimmy and Sandy Sharp of Franklinton, Keith and Michelle Sharp of Loranger, and Trent and Tonya Sharp of Franklinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Liz and Don Cheek of Prairieville, and Pattie and Roland Burch of Mt. Hermon; three step-daughters and spouses, Donna and Kim Doucet, Karen and Nick Angelona, and Christine and Edward Hertz, all of Marrero; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dallas Sharp of Lavaca, Ark.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Uletha and Donald Quave of Killian, Ethel and Harry McDonald of Tickfaw, and Leona Helton of Burnside, Ky.; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Joyce Crawford Sharp; parents, Dallas C. Sharp and Grace Loyd Sharp; a brother, Charlie Sharp; sisters, Ella Grace Ward and Vidalia Sharp; and brother-in-law, Gerald Helton.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 20, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after noon on Sunday, Jan. 21. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Leon Hickman and the Rev. Gary Quave officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Sharp, Jason Sharp, Gary Sharp Jr., Brandon Scott Cheek, Shawn Michael Cheek, Josh Patton and Brandon Thomas.
