Locals were successful at powerlifting

Last Thursday and Friday, several local powerlifters went to state and had plenty of success.
Varnado, which is in Division V, had a pair of state champions and a second-place finisher in last Thursday’s meet.
Chris Kimball captured state title for the 148-pound weight class and he won the Outstanding Lifter for the Light Platform.
Jep Bonnette captured the 114s and Jadarrell Magee was the state runner-up in the 220s.
T’Andrew Foster was fourth in the 132s and Jacorrius Bickham was eighth for the 148s.
Varnado was third in the team competition.
Franklinton, which is in Division II, had four members qualify.
Randy Garza and Stevie Thompson both had fifth-place finishes in the state.
Garza was fifth in the 123s and Thompson was fifth for the 165s.
Mason Givens took eighth in the super heavyweight division and Wyatt Hensley was ninth for the 165s.
