Bowling Green’s Dupont qualifies for Class AAA Meet

Bowling Green School’s Landry Dupont is headed to the Class AAA Meet in the long jump after qualifying at the South State Meet last week at Silliman Institute.
The junior finished third in the event, recording a distance of 14 feet, 11 inches. St. Aloysius’ Natalie Burke won the long jump at 15-11.5.
The meet was a qualifier. Field events and the 3,200 meters were last Wednesday while the rest of the track events were Saturday.
The top four finishers advanced to the Class AAA Meet, which takes place at Jackson Academy and Jackson Preparatory School.
The field events and 3,200 are Friday at Jackson Academy. The rest of the track events will be Saturday at Jackson.
No other Lady Buccaneers finished in the top five.
Hillcrest Christian School won the team competition with 75 points, as 13 teams posted points.
Silliman Institute was second with 63 points, followed by St. Aloysius’ 38, Riverfield’s 26 and Wayne Academy’s 23.
Bowling Green School tied Central Hinds Academy for 10th, with three points each.
In the boys competition, Charles Tanksley was fifth in the long jump at 19-8. Silliman Institute’s Austin Bizette was the winner after posting a 20-11.5.
Silliman Institute won the team competition with 100 points, as 12 teams posted points.
St. Aloysius was next with 40, followed by Central Hinds Academy’s 38, Park Place Christian Academy’s 27 and Cathedral High School’s 23.
Bowling Green was 12th with one point.
