Hynitha Burkhalter

“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid” (Psalms 27:4).

The sweet Angel of Mercy moved in quietly on April 30, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at her residence in Franklinton, and bore the spirit of Hynitha “Birdie” Burkhalter at the age of 69.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Dorothy Jean (Ronald) Bickham and Albertine Burkhalter, both of Franklinton; three brothers, Rufus (Kerrylynn) of New Orleans, Edward J. Burkhalter of Texas, and Donald (Louise) Burkhalter of Gretna; one god-daughter, Jacaria Bickham of Baton Rouge; one god-son, Amarie Conerly of Franklinton; and a host other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ola Mae and Learther Burkhalter; and three brothers, Learther, Willie, and Clinton Burkhalter.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 3, at the Chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mallory Callahan Jr., officiating.
