FHS competes at regionals

Several Franklinton athletes competed in last week’s Region 3-4A Meet at South Terrebonne High School.
The top three finishers from each event qualified for the Class 4A state meet, which is at LSU on Saturday.
Franklinton is the only school in Class 4A in Washington Parish.
Porsha Delatte was Franklinton’s top finisher.
Delatte was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.35 seconds. Vandebilt Catholic’s Moly Thompson won in 44.90.
Miriam Tate was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 87 feet, 8 inches. South Lafourche’s Traya Bruce won at 128-3.
Drahcir Magee tied Lakeshore’s Elizabeth’s Wangler in the long jump at 4-8. Edna Karr’s Alacia Myles won after clearing the 5-6 bar.
Kassidy Neilson posted a 29.12 for ninth. Edna Karr’s Delje Keller was the winner in 25.61.
Raelyn Gross and Tamirria Thomas were 10th and 14th in the 100 with after posting times of 13.30 and 13.84. Salmen’s Trinity Thomas won in 12.47.
Gross took 12th in the triple jump at 29-7. Belle Chasse’s Amy Warren triple jumped 37-11.5 to win.
Delatte ran 14th in the 100 hurdles in 19.41. McDonogh 35’s Mone Octave captured the event in 14.92.
Drahcir Magee was 15th in the long jump at 13-1. Ben Franklin’s Angel Williams won at 17-4.
Tate was 16th in the discus after posting a 61-9. Lakeshore’s Ashley Ducre was the winner at 108-5.
In the relays, Franklinton was ninth in the 4×100 and 10th for the 4×200 with times of 52.52 and 1 minute, 52 seconds.
The 4×100 team had Jalyn Bickham, Neilson, Gorss and Delatte. The 4×200 group was Bickham, India Dickerson, Tamirria Thomas and Gross.
Edna Karr and Vandebilt Catholic won those races in 48.55 and 1:45.
Edna Karr’s Taylor Harris was the Track MVP while Lakeshore’s Katia Shostak was the Field MVP.
Edna Karr won the team portion of the meet with 100 points, as 22 teams recorded points.
Vandebilt Catholic was second with 87, followed by Lakeshore’s 48, McDonogh 35’s 43 and Cabrini’s 39.
Franklinton tied Pearl River and Riverdale for 19th with one point.
Carson Ragas was Franklinton’s top male finisher.
Ragas was 10th in the shot put, with a distance of 38-1. New Orleans Military and Maritime’s James Burks won at 49-4.
Jasper LaSalle and Austin Thomassen were 11th and 12th in the javelin, with throws of 129-1 and 126-3, respectively. South Lafourche’s Jeremy Rogers, who was the co-Field MVP with Salmen’s Carey Holmes, won after posting a 165-8.
Taylor Cooper took 13th for the 1,600 at 6:06. E.D. White’s Samuel Avants was victorious in 4:32.
Damien Ard posted a 13th-place finish in the 100 after running a 12.63. Track MVP Rodney Johnson of Edna Karr was victorious in 10.88.
Titus Watts took 14th in the 3,200 at 13:02. Avants was victorious at 9:54.
Lambert was 14th in the discus at 102-9. Rogers won at 146-3.
Avant Monnie was 15th in the long jump at 18-5. Holmes long jumped 22-9.5 to win.
In the relays, Franklinton was 10th and 13th in the 4×200 and 4×100, with times of 1:37 and 48.59.
The 4×200 team had Quaran Warren, Hayden Cotton, Bryan Williams and Stevie Thompson. The 4×100 team featured Ard, Warren, Williams and Thompson.
Karr won the 4×200 in 1:26 and the 4×100 was won by McDonogh 35 at 42.07.
Edna Karr won the team competition with 66 points, as 19 teams posted points.
Lakeshore was second with 56 points, followed by E.D. White’s 55, Carver’s 52 and Warren Easton’s 47.
