Relton Sumrall, age 63, and a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home. He was a former Game Warden for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for 25 years. Relt served as the 8th Ward representative on the Washington Parish Council for eight years. He was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a beef cattleman for many years. Relt enjoyed deer hunting and loved white perch fishing. He also enjoyed cooking out and spending time at “the barn” visiting with his friends and family.
He was survived by his wife of 23 years Judy Edwards Sumrall of the Lawrence Creek Community; two sons: Joshua Relton Sumrall of Miami, Fla. and Keith Jeremy Edwards of Mt. Hermon; two daughters and a son-in-law: Shaina Alise Sumrall, Sherri and Danny Phelps all of the Lawrence Creek Community; six grandchildren and a spouse: Connor Holmes, Brittney and Cody Wages, Alyssa Phelps, Jacob Edwards, Addyson Phelps and Carson Edwards; great-granddaughter: Rayleigh Wages; mother: Ella Rice Sumrall of the Lawrence Creek Community; brother and sister in law: Timothy and Beverly Sumrall of the Lawrence Creek Community; sister: Dawn Dena’ Seal of Franklinton; nephews and nieces: Leland Sumrall, Kristen Sumrall Goings, Jaron Edwards and Callie Seal. Also numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert C. Sumrall and an infant sister Stacey Lynette Sumrall.
Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10th from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Friday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12 p.m. Friday with Eld. Don Jacobs and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Nobles Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Lawrence Creek Church and all those throughout the area that supported the family during the last few years, and also to the staff of 3-North at St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Community Care Hospice.
The pallbearers are Larue Martin, Jaron Edwards, Leland Sumrall, Bruce Ard, Keith Williams and Roy Magee.
The honorary pallbearers are Daniel Phelps, Will Magee, Otha Williams, Jr., Bruce Nielson, Lester Thomas, Randy Adams, Clyde Cockrell, David Bryant, Greg Welborn and George Williams.
