Herbert Sieger Jr.

Herbert Roman Sieger Jr., 95, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family. Mr. Sieger was born on July 10, 1922, in New Orleans.

Herb was a World War II veteran serving in the Marines and Air Force. He was a member of the Bogalusa Lions Club and an active member/Sunday School teacher for Lee’s Creek Baptist Church. Herb was ordained as a Deacon by First Baptist Church in Biloxi, Miss., on Dec. 6, 1984. He served as Monarch of the Farhad Grotto in New Orleans. While living in Pikeville, N.C., Herb was a member of the Pikeville Lions Club and had the privilege of serving the town of Pikeville as Commissioner and Mayor.

Herb was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Cox Sieger.

He is survived by three sons, Randy L. (Denise) Sieger of Slidell, Richard G. (Mary) Sieger of Memphis, Tenn., and Ronald M. (Claudia) Sieger of Bogalusa; two daughters, Sue Sieger (Jeff) Harrison of Dudley, N.C., and Jill Sieger (Chris) Haag of Commerce, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Randy L. Sieger Jr., Heather Sieger, Jeremy (Charlotte) Sieger, Margaret Sieger, Tiffany Haag, Phillip Haag, Kristyna (Hector) Dowdy, Stephen (Megan) Sieger, Brandon Sieger, Joshua (Rachel) Harrison, Matthew Harrison and Timothy (Jessica) Harrison; 12 great-grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Bennett, D.J. Galatas, Alyssa Haag, Jillian Dowdy, Sophia Dowdy, Sadie Sieger, Ezekiel Harrison, Mackenzie Harrison, Noah Harrison, Nathan Harrison, Natalie Harrison and Jackson Harrison; one great-great grandchild, Claire Bennett; and his faithful companion, Cookie.

Services were Tuesday, July 10, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and staying open until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Keith Sheridan and Rev. Dennis Allen officiated and interment followed at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
