Franklinton’s football team spent Thursday afternoon, Aug. 2, helping out others in the community.
The Demons went in groups by position to different places with their position coach and did was assigned in that area.
The team worked on service projects at the Town Hall, Winn Dixie, the Franklinton Maintenance Department, the fairgrounds, Washington Parish Food Bank in Franklinton and First Baptist Church in Franklinton.
As a whole, Franklinton players painted, pressure washed, moved desks, loaded/unloaded boxes with food, cut/picked up limbs, bagged groceries and collected buggies.
Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber praised the job his team did.
“They did a great job,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “I talked to them numerous of times about giving back and they took the bull by the horn and they really embraced the opportunity to give back to their community. I think a lot of our players will come back to this community and raise their families, open businesses and continue to make our town great.”
Barber said the plan is to get more businesses involved in the future.
“I think it was great for our kids to be in the community and I think it was great for the businesses to see our kids. We’re looking to expand to more businesses in the future,” he said.
