B.C. Lions Otha Foster III had a solid day in his team’s 26-14 victory over Ottawa in a home game held Friday, Sept. 7, at home.
Foster, who is a 2006 Varnado High School graduate, entered last night’s game with 41 defensive tackles, one tackle on special teams and two sacks.
B.C. led 10-1 at halftime and extended that lead to 16-1 in the third quarter.
In the Canadian Football League, teams can get one-pointers. The kicking team can get one pointers on any punt or missed field goal that does not touch the goal post.
If the returner is tackled in the end zone or the ball goes out of bounds in the end zone, the kicking team is awarded one point. After that happens, the receiving team takes over at its own 35 and begins the next drive.
This rule does not apply to made field goals, kickoffs, fumbles out of the end zone or kicks that hit the goal post. On a made field goal or after at point after touchdown, the defensive team can elect to take the ball at their own 35 instead of having a kickoff.
Ottawa scored 10 unanswered points to trim the deficit to 16-11 with 13:46 left in the fourth quarter.
B.C. scored 10 of the game’s final 13 points en route to the victory.
B.C. was 4-6 going into last night’s game while Ottawa is 6-5.
B.C. played Montreal last night on the road. Ottawa faces Saskatchewan on Saturday, Sept. 15.
