Juanita Varnado

Juanita Creel Varnado, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the age of 78. Juanita will be forever missed, loved and remembered by her surviving children.
She is survived by her two daughters, Billie Faye Brooks, of Bogalusa, and Debbie Brooks of Slidell; one son, Alcus Brooks and his wife Susan of Slidell; one sister, Glorigean Woods of Tylertown, Miss.; one brother, Ralph Creel of Tennessee; six granddaughters, Earline J. Brooks of Bogalusa, Nicole F. Brooks of Bogalusa, Erica Brooks of Slidell, Lucy E. Brooks, Dixie R. Brooks of Bogalusa, and Rebecca Landers; six grandsons, John “Phillip” Brooks, John “Sam” Brooks of Bogalusa, Christopher Wayne Brooks of Slidell, Huey Phillip Brooks, B.J. Peire and Jason Brooks of Tennessee; 16 great-grandchildren; one grandson-in-law, Cliffar Bounds; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Juanita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer “Donnie Bo” Varnado; parents, Dixie Garner and T.C. Creel; and three sons, David Wayne Brooks, Huey Phillip Brooks Sr. and John Pearson Brooks Sr.
Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 23, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24. Officiating was the Rev. Kenny Fisher. Interment immediately followed at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.
Pallbearers were Brandon McLeod, Shane Newman Jr. Allen, Brian Woods, Chuck Westmoreland and Tracy Burnett.
