Franklinton Tournament in the books

Franklinton High School was the site for numerous basketball games over a four-day period last week.
The annual event took place last Wednesday to Saturday.
Six boys games were held over the four days.
The event featured one local contest on Wednesday, Nov. 28, as Varnado defeated Pine, 66-60.
Varnado led 53-36 through three quarters, but the Raiders did a good job of staying in the game.
The Raiders got the lead down to six at 61-55 with 2:38 left in the fourth quarter.
Varnado scored five unanswered points to make it 66-55 with 39.5 seconds on the clock to essentially seal the victory.
Jaheim Hooks led the Wildcats with 20 points that included a 3-pointer.
Brandon Lee was just a point behind at 19.
Javon Bickham recorded 15.
Adrian Bickham, Michael Fland and Jhaquawn McConnell and D’Myjay Bickham all posted three points.
Jordan Anderson led Pine with 28 points.
Tristan Jones put up 14 points.
Chance Woodward posted eight points while Markell Cotton and Karson Voth had four each and Larry Williams added two.
Two local games each were held Thursday and Friday.
Thursday’s first game saw Bogalusa defeat Varnado, 75-44.
Chance Turner led the Lumberjacks with 15 points and made a 3-pointer.
Josh Taylor posted 14 points and was successful on a trio of 3-pointers.
DaJuan Powell and Shad Gamble posted 10 points each.
Quientay Henry tallied six points, Demarcus Spikes and T.J. Peyton recorded five each, John Downey posted four and Jahee Roberts, Karry Conerly and Raheem Roberts all recorded two. Peyton and Downey made a 3-pointer each.
Hooks was Varnado’s leading scorer with 15 points.
Lee recorded 10.
McConnell posted six points while Brooks had four, Javon Bickham had three, Bickham tallied two and Malyk Magee added one. McConnell made two 3-pointers.
In the next game, Franklinton topped Pine, 65-58.
Kian Conerly and T.Y. Pope tied to lead the Demons in points with 17 each. Conerly hit four 3-pointers.
Lorenzo Hart posted 13 points and he was good on three 3-pointers.
Duke Bell scored eight points while Joshua Boughton and Avant Monnie posted five each. Boughton and Monnie hit a 3-pointer each.
Pine’s Anderson scored a game-high 29 points that included five 3-pointers.
Woodward posted nine points while Jones and Cotton scored seven each, Williams tallied four and Voth added two. Woodward and Jones made a 3-pointer each.
On Friday, Pine lost to Mandeville, 67-36.
Anderson led the way for the Raiders with 21 points.
Cotton and Voth recorded four points each while Jones had three, Williams posted two and Dae’Von Gay added two.
Also on Friday, Franklinton defeated Bogalusa, 64-52.
T.Y. Pope scored a game-high 29 points that included a 3-pointer.
Kian Conerly posted 14 and he made a 3-pointer.
Avant Monnie tallied eight points while Albert Browhaw posted five, Hart and Duke Bell recorded three each. Monnie made two 3-pointers and Hart was successful on one from beyond the arc.
Chance Turner was Bogalusa’s leading scorer with 16 points that included a 3-pointer.
DaJuan Powell and Josh Taylor scored 10 each. Powell made a pair of 3-pointers and Taylor hit one 3-pointer.
T.J. Peyton posted seven while Demarcus Spikes had five and Quientay Henry and Raheem Roberts added two each. Spikes hit a 3-pointer.
Another local game was held on Saturday, as Varnado lost to Lakeshore, 79-29.
Bickham led Varnado with six points.
McConnell and Kevis Brooks posted five each, Hooks and Lee scored four each and Bickham and Kim McGowan posted three each. Brooks and McGowan made a 3-pointer each.
Franklinton won the tournament’s final game featuring at least one local team, with a 44-21 victory over Kentwood.
Pope led the Demons with 12 points.
Bell tallied 10 points.
Hart and Jaheim Jefferson recorded six points each while Conerly had five while Cornelius recorded three and Boughton added two. Hart and Jefferson made a pair of 3-pointers each and Conerly made one.
