Jan Allen

Jan Renee Allen was born on her grandmother’s birthday, June 17, 1978, in Covington. She passed so peacefully at the young age of 40. Jan attended Bowling Green School for 13 years, graduating in the Class of 1996. She was chosen as class favorite, Ms. BGS and Homecoming Queen. Jan was also a cheerleader, a four-year member of the Lady Bucs basketball team and involved in numerous club activities. She worked for several years at Riverside Medical Center, where she loved all the employees so much. Jan had an infectious smile, always loved life but most of all loved the Lord.
He says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46: 10-11.
She is survived by: daughter, Hailey Lynn Maddern; Hailey’s dad, Tom Maddern of Franklinton; Hailey’s sisters, Katy of Hammond and Kara of Germany; parents, Ken Allen and Brenda Barber Allen of Franklinton; brother and niece, John Allen and Kiersten Allen of Franklinton; Kiersten’s mom, Becky Smith Allen of Franklinton; aunts and uncles, Rita and Butch Magee, Judy and Carl Thomas, Eugene Barber, Randy Barber, and Alfred and Vivian Allen, all of Franklinton; her wonderful doctor, Dr. Sumathi Smith, whom she loved so dearly and who fought for her until the very end; and also numerous precious cousins who were so close to her.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Ellis and Ruth Barber, Ellie and Letha Allen; aunt, Shirley Stansbury; uncle, Lonnie Allen; and cousins, Allen Dedon and Sherri Hall.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 21, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at First Baptist Church of Franklinton, located at 950 Self St. A funeral service will be held in the church at noon Tuesday, Jan. 22, with the Rev. Joey Miller and the Rev. Bob Adams officiating, a eulogy by lifelong friend Matt Crain and special music by Stuart Varnado. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.
Memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church-New Sanctuary Fund.
Pallbearers will be cousins Brent Magee, Matt Magee, Julian Thomas, Jamie Thomas, Phill Junkins and special friend Justin Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bowling Green Class of 1996.
